Reflective Journal
I visited the Whitechapel Gallery today whilst in London. Paul Graham’s photography exhibition was what was currently being displayed. Lots of documentation types of situations and places. This work in particular caught my eye. Although conceptually, this was part of a series of photos called ‘Empty Heaven,’ looking at the contrast between the traditional contemplative society, to its growth of consumerism, and not particularly related to my work in that sense. It was my favourite piece of the exhibition as I felt I related to the content within, the tree and it being wrapped. Its landscape and appearance being altered, due to the interaction/intrusion of objects.

I quite enjoyed the contrast within the picture, of something so natural as a tree, then being forced to interact with these other objects, and wrapped and covered, that looks now so unnatural and forced.
