New College/Uni(?) term

Ok so I have started a new course, its a foundation course in Art and Design. I believe it to be college level, slightly above, as it helps you prepare for university, and build up a porte folio of work. There are 6 pathways, and next Monday I shall begin my first timetabled rotation, Fine Art. My last course was a BND in Fine Art, so I have a certain fondness for this pathway, and when we have to pick one, this is in mind, although I am trying to keep my mind open. There are also Visual Communication 1 (a graphics type pathway), Visual Communication 2 (more illustrative), Fashion, Sculpture and Photography. Obviously Fine Art making up the sixth. We do not get to choose our rotations, and are put in them. Im hoping to experiment with them all, and try the best I can with them, so I can say i did try my best, and hopefully gain some interesting results, maybe even porte folio worthy. Anyway here are some pieces created before I started the course, and a post will follow that contains some pieces so far from my new course! :)

This was a foil sculpture I created as some experimentation for my Final Major Project. It wasn't inserted into the piece ad neither were any made along with it. But it helped develop my ideas towards my piece.

These are some pictures of my final piece, intact with people inside it haha:

I decided to create my brief upon dreams. I kept a dream diary and researched dreams, created presentations and like the foil sculptures above, created lots of experimentation ideas. It was a large installation piece, with the floor covered in white flour. People were invited to take off their shoes and walk inside. The idea of having this floor was to present a transient effect and show how their is no certain form to our dreams. There were various objects, feathers and veils hanging down, some shredded into strips, others not. Travelling towards the back, where there were boxes on the wall. This was supposed to create quite a surreal effect. It took the person viewing it from the gallery, into this dream like situation, into completely new surroundings, but although in their mind they are somewhere else, they are physically still in that gallery space. This is much like our dreams, where we still lay down in the place we went to sleep, but our mind is able to take us anywhere. The boxes at the back were actually inspired by a dream I had whilst keeping my dream diary for this project. The pressure of this project was quite instense, annd I found alot of my dreams were based within college and involved my tutors. Overall I believe the piece was a success and was proud with my result.
